Recycled Warmth by Zam Zam Foundation!

The Winter comforter production and distribution project is running in Bangladesh and we need your support!

With this project, our plan is to accomplish a few goals

We process old clothes and recycle them to make new comforters. We aim to manufacture comforters and distribute them to needy families, employing daily workers who lost their jobs due to this pandemic in the process. The purpose of manufacturing comforters instead of buying ready-made ones is to significantly reduce cost compared to the market price, provide employment, and promote recycling. We plan to distribute the manufactured comforters by the end of December 2020

Better lives for People

People all over the world are suffering due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Due to covid unemployment situation from lockdown, many day laborers have lost wages and need financial support. At the same time many people are suffering from cold due to not having even a basic blanket to cover themselves. This project aims to manufacture 10,000 blankets from donated recycled clothes for distribution to needy families. It provides employment to over 250 unemployed people for six weeks or more, providing means of survival for their families. This way many different individuals in the world can be part of helping others by contributing their ideas, finances, labor, old clothes and skills of manufacturing.

We sleep in our warm bedding but many people in the world sleep in cold homes without even a blanket to cover themselves. Poor citizens of northern Bangladesh, who cannot afford blankets needed especially in cold winter time, get sick and some even die every winter. These are needy people who get sick and cannot afford medicine for treatment and we want to reduce this burden from them and provide warm blankets.

Making Of Winter Comforter

The blanket being made is 5’ x 7’ and weighs 8 lbs. Market value of the cheapest similar size comforter is about $20, costing $200,000 for 10,000 blankets whereas our comforter is being produced for $4.62. This price is 4.3 times cheaper than market value and saves $154,000. It also recycles old materials and provides employment to needy people in the process.

Nothing can be more pleasant than alleviating human suffering, pain, and hardship for us. With our upcoming “winter comforter making and distribution” (Bangladesh) project, we are hoping to make a change in needy people’s lives. This campaign is different from others in many ways.

  • We are promoting recycling in a country where it is not a common practice. Through recycling, the need for raw materials and the cost of making a comforter will be reduced approximately five times less than the wholesale price of the same product. This way, we can produce more and donate to more individuals
  • 75,000 lbs of old clothing will be recycled and turned into a comforter insert. Also, recycling will eliminate waste from the earth while reducing pollution. This project will create more than 250 job opportunities.
  • This project will create more than 250 job opportunities. The people who will be working in this project have at least 4 to 5 members in a family. That means, approximately 1000 – 1250 people will get financial support and daily means of living for a few months.
  • Our target is to make 10,000 comforters and distribute them to needy families and support them to stay warm in winter.
